If you've been reading climate fiction the last few years, you know the formula: big disaster, plucky hero, last-minute save. "The Aerie Protocol" upends that template in the best possible way. Allen understands that the scariest environmental threats aren't storms, they're the people who think they can control them.
The Aerie Protocol is a gripping blend of science fiction, mystery, and atmospheric suspense. I really enjoyed the way the story combines a fascinating skyborne setting with a deeply personal character journey. Mac’s struggle to move beyond his past gives the story emotional weight, while the Aerie itself is an incredibly imaginative and memorable setting.
The Aerie itself is incredible, and the climate themes are important, but for me, this was a book about a man learning to live again. Mac's realization that observing isn't the same as caring hit me hard. The camera isn't armor; it's avoidance. I needed that reminder.
I've been obsessed with this story since I first purchased it. I really enjoyed the mix of mystery, sci-fi, and emotional depth, especially Mac’s journey throughout the novel. A smart, atmospheric read for fans of high-concept science fiction.
